Restrictions & requirementsHide restrictions & requirements3
A temporary moratorium prohibits the approval, commencement, construction, installation, expansion, establishment, or use of any new or expanded data center in Sheridan Charter Township until August 31, 2027.
While the moratorium is effective, the Township and its officials, boards, bodies, and commissions may not process applications or issue zoning approvals, zoning permits, rezonings, building permits, licenses, or other Township approvals for the commencement, installation, expansion, or use of a data center.
The moratorium does not apply to a structure, use, or building that had received all required approvals before the ordinance took effect, whose approvals remained valid, and that was under substantial construction or had begun its final use.
Benefits & exceptionsHide benefits & exceptions1
Grandfathering for existing projects: the moratorium does not apply to a data center or related structure that had received all required zoning, building-code, and other approvals before the ordinance took effect, provided those approvals remained valid and the project was under substantial construction or had begun final use. The moratorium exemption protects qualifying projects from the temporary prohibition.
