Restrictions & requirementsHide restrictions & requirements1
A moratorium bars the county from accepting, processing, reviewing, or filing applications for data centers with an aggregate critical IT load of 250 megawatts or greater from September 21 through December 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. It exempts properly presented applications submitted before enactment and does not cover smaller data centers already operating or potentially located in ordinary buildings. The moratorium may be shortened or extended for good cause based on progress on updated ordinances and compliance (moratorium on county acceptance, processing, review, and filing).
Benefits & exceptionsHide benefits & exceptions2
Data centers below the 250-megawatt aggregate critical IT-load threshold are outside the moratorium, including smaller centers already operating or proposed for ordinary buildings.
Petitions and applications properly presented before the ordinance took effect are exempt from the moratorium.
